During the construction project in 2016, the small two-room library was moved to the spacious location designed for housing books, computers and meeting space.
In honor of Board Member Marvin Batenhorst the library was dedicated to his love for books and education.
Generous donations from the Batenhorst family has allowed the Librarian, Becky Vincent, to expand the non-fiction section.
We appreciate the family for remembering the library in their generosity while keeping Marvin's memory alive in our children.
In 2014, the Bookout and Cooksey families and friends also chose to extend a generous donation to the library in honor of Lynn Bookout Cooksey, who taught at the Hartley School. A large selection of books was purchased with the donations and Hartley ISD is grateful for the families to support reading opportunities for our students.
The Library serves our school children with a large assortment of books with a variety of reading levels.
However, the library is a PUBLIC LIBRARY, available to homeschool groups and adults as well. An ample selection of adult reading may be signed out for 2 weeks at a time, while younger readers may select books for reading outside the classroom.
During the summer vacation there are special opening hours published on the marquee and on this website.
Please feel free to visit us during school hours by checking into the Principal's Office before you browse the Marvin Batenhorst Library.
